Every year hundreds of students from all over the world come to study
in Dresden.Although those foreign students are here as guests, they
often cluster in groups of their nationality without any contact to the
locals. Consequently, their opportunities to get to know more about
life beyond university and student dormitory are rare.

Therefore our proposal:
Local families, citizens and students provide exchange students an
understanding
of their homeland and life. Therefore the FIF-Program is looking for
people from
Dresden, who give our foreign guests the opportunity to look behind the
scenes of
everyday life. The list for joint activities is endless: visiting
museums, theatres,
cinemas or the opera, going on fieldtrips in and around Dresden,
strolling across the
town, doing joint sportive activities e.g. hiking or biking, visiting
together
regional or local festivals, inviting each other for dinner, helping
the foreign
student to find one's way around the city and get along in everyday
life and so on.The variety of activities and the frequency of
occurrence are always up to you and your program partner.

The mediation of
program partners is our task. We – that are the three tutors
of the “Family and international friends program”,
in short called the “FIF-Team”. The FIF-Program is
a service of the student union (Studentenwerk) Dresden. It was founded
in October 2002. Mrs. Schieferdecker-Adolph who is responsible for
welfare of foreigners in Dresden has the patronage of the FIF-Program.

Beside the mediation
of program partners the FIF-Program also organises joint events,
excursions and other activities for its members and other interested
people. |
